PROJECT 1: “The Power Outage” Feature

Over a year ago, a few independent filmmakers met on the internet and decided to make a feature film made up of intertwining stories, each written and directed by a different member. After much brainstorming, we chose the premise of a rolling power outage as a means to tie many stories together into one cohesive movie. As we began writing, the script evolved into a global story following characters on every continent.

Each story answers the question, “What would you do if your world lost its power?” The blackout links the stories, but the film is ultimately about how our diverse characters reveal their true natures as they are personally affected by the loss of the modern world.

As of February 2010, brand new filmmakers from Asia, South America and the Middle East are hard at work on their scripts. These stories will complete the 12-story global screenplay. It has become so much more than we ever expected and has been a truly inspiring experience for all involved.

It has also become bigger and more complex than we initially imagined. This has us very excited, but it will require months of further development and pre-production before cameras can start rolling (hopefully in the fall of 2010).

Meanwhile, we've decided we want to shoot something before that, so we have started a second, simpler project. By design, it will involve more filmmakers, require less of each, and move at a faster pace. With everything we’ve learned from the first round, we’re eager to start writing the second. We are now looking for new filmmakers to join us.
